Building brand awareness is one of the most integral aspects of business growth. Sure there are different approaches to gaining awareness such as owning a website or having a popular slogan such as Nike's tag line "Just Do It," but with increasing competition and swamped markets it's essential to find a way to really stand out and get noticed. If you study the concept of building brand awareness you will come to see that it creates what you call a "pass it on scenario." One person or group of people come to recognize who you are and what you have to offer and they pass it down to others. Well custom bobbleheads will gain recognition for you in a unique way. You see them used by major companies such as Geico, Pep Boys and Good To Go Auto Insurance. And as companies begin to see the impact they make as far as corporate branding, popularity will only increase over the years.

  • Promotional use as giveaway prizes
  • Corporate gifts to employees
  • Branded bobble heads sold at retail stores
  • Trade show events
  • Popular for fund raisers

4 Tips To Discovering Greatness

This is a topic I've been wanting to share because I feel it's important so if you have a moment I would like to share my thoughts with you. I have a question for you. Do you know what your truly gifted at? Many of us go our entire lives without discovering our true potential. Each one of us has a purpose in life. Whether it be to perform a major operation and save a life or to paint the next great masterpiece and bring beauty into the world, I believe that each and every one of us is here for a reason. We each make our own contribution to the world be it a positive one or negative. And guess what? Just because  your gift is not well recognized like say being an NBA player for example, doesn't mean it's any less important. It can be something as simple as making people smile when you enter a room or the ability to be open minded to others. There's some people who recognize their talent but feel it's nothing substantial. Then there's others who never really take the time to find out who they really are and what their purpose is in life. Sadly, there are many who could end up being major successes, but never pursued their dream. If you want to find out what it is your good at, there's a few things you must consider.

1. You Are Good Enough - It begins with self esteem. Never use the word "can't." When you tell yourself you can't do something you automatically shut your mind off to any possibilities of succeeding which means the mind will not ponder ways of discovering how you "can." I use to have this problem when I was younger. I wasn't the most popular kid in school and I stayed to myself a lot. My mentality was one of hopelessness and despair and  I told myself I wouldn't amount to anything much. But you have to break away from that. There will always be someone to tell you that you won't be able to achieve something and it's only a pipe dream. They never tried so they don't want you to try to succeed either. You also don't want to compare your life to someone else. You don't know what they had to go through to get where they are. Nothing worthwhile is easily obtainable in life.

2. Motivation -  Life is hard and the odds seem to be against you constantly. Believe me I know, but you have to be motivated. Without a sense of ambition, you won't have the drive needed to discover your potential. A great way to motivate yourself  is to read or watch success stories of people who were in the same position your in and ended up succeeding. Another great way is to read self help literature. Don't laugh! These books can be very helpful. Two books I recommend are Self-Esteem: A Proven Program of Cognitive Techniques, and Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki.

3. Explore -  Now that your feeling good about yourself and leaning more towards "can" rather than "cannot," it's time to find out exactly what it is you want to do. This is going to take some time and soul searching. What do you enjoy the most? What were some interests that you had growing up? Any curiosities you might have had that you just let drift away from your mind instead of pondering? Maybe you know what your good at but just never had the drive to excel in it. Or maybe certain circumstances in your life didn't allow you to pursue your dream which happens quite often. Just remember the old cliche, "when there's a will, there's a way." And if you don't believe me consider this scenario. Tyler Perry was a homeless man sleeping on the streets before he became what he is today. How did he do it? Strong motivation and a determination not to let his circumstances get the best of him.

If you don't know where to start, a good idea would be to take a piece of paper and jot down everything you think you might have an interest in. Then one at a time explore those interests. Research them and give them a try. You'd be surprised at what you end up enjoying! Once you find something, put everything you have into it and do your very best.

4. Maintain - One of the toughest things to deal with when pursuing something is to maintain motivation. There's always going to be speed bumps and failures along the way. You can't succeed without failure. I've had three unsuccessful businesses before I started Face It Figures! You have to be determined no matter what the cost. Try to keep positive people around you and go back to those success stories you've read when you feel you can't go on. Just keep trying.

In conclusion, everyone has a purpose but it's up to you to discover it or improve upon it. If you have the gift of making people happy when their in your company, then hold on to that positive energy. You may not think it's much but if you can wake up and know your making people happy your making a difference in the world. That's one less person walking around miserable everyday. If your good at drawing, see how far you can go with it and let others enjoy your work. Everyone has a unique quality and the bottom line is that you have to take one day at a time and try to remain positive.

Feel free to share your thoughts on this topic!

Perfect Customer Service, Really?

Let's be honest, although we strive to offer the best in customer service and value for your buck, there's always room for improvement. The company that tells you that their service and overall business performance is sheer perfection is not exactly being honest. The simple fact is that theirs always room for improvement. ALWAYS. It's an ongoing experience that takes learning from your mistakes and understanding what exactly are the needs of the customer.

It's not a wham, bam sell the product, get you out situation. You have to really put yourself in the customer's shoes. For example, your up early ready to head to this new (unanimous coffee shop) to get your morning cup of java. Your not really in the best of moods today because number one, it's early. Number two, you know you have a very busy day ahead of you that your not looking forward to. So you head inside (the unanimous coffee shop) and the place is not very inviting and the staff aren't very friendly. But you need your coffee so you continue to approach the counter. The employee asks you what you want in a very dry tone, you order and the employee hands you your coffee without so much as a "have a nice day" or "thanks for your business." Fine. You hop in your car and drive a ways taking your first sip of coffee. It's watered down and has an off taste to it! Not a good way to start what is to be a very trying day. Now everyone has days where their not themselves or it's not business as usual, but if you decided to return to that shop and had the same experience, would you go a third time? Maybe, maybe not.

The point is that all businesses have flaws that need to be addressed. We believe that the customer deserves more one on one attention to ensure them that their making the right decision in doing business with us. Also, the product should be the best quality possible and the customer should never have to just settle for a purchase but to be absolutely thrilled with it. Especially since our products can be a timely process to deliver and can be frustrating at times waiting for it's arrival. Having to wait for an order and at the same time dealing with poor service is not a good mix.

That being said, you told us what your concerns are with your overall experience and we listened. Here's what we heard:

1. Likeness - Most people absolutely love our custom bobbleheads and figurines. But then there are some who believe they need to have more resemblance. We work with some of the best artists artists in the world who have gone through vigorous training to sculpt these dolls. These are meant to be humorous caricature pieces and are not meant to be exact replicas of  a person. That does not mean that we don't take this request into consideration. We want everyone to be happy. So we've brought more artists on board with a slightly different style than our previous bobbleheads. Remember, these are made based on only a  photo which is different from having the person actually there. We continue to strive to capture more facial features.

2. Pricing - This can be quite pricey we know, but keep in mind that these are hand painted and sculpted. These take literally hours just to create one piece not including any revisions. Plus, their made to order and are not stocked. Each piece is different and involves a different approach to creation. We now offer 5.75" bobbleheads available for $79.99.

3. Time - On average it takes about 3 to 4 weeks to create a bobblehead. Not much can be done to speed the process up because it simply takes time to get them right. We suggest you decide exactly how you would like your order to be made before production. That avoids having to go back and redo something which means added time. Also, proofs should be responded to in a timely matter. We do have rush options available meaning your order would jump the queue and become top priority over other orders.

We truly appreciate your business and want you to be as happy receiving them as we our creating them. I mean, who doesn't love bobble heads?!  We are always willing to hear any questions or concerns you may have because you help make us better. We're not perfect, but we strive to be the best at what we do. Thanks again and remember to be the bobble!

New Updates, New Bobbleheads

It's been a very busy couple of weeks here at Face It Figures. We've put our heads together to come up with ways to improve shopping experience and offer more to the table. We want you to be completely satisfied with the entire process from start to finish. That being said, we've heard your comments and suggestions and are ready to deliver. So here's whats new:

1. Storefront design changes and easier navigation - The store needed a few updates so we changed a few colors and fonts along with minor layout changes. No big deal, right? Okay. We then changed our categories for an easier browsing experience. Both male and female bobbleheads have their own separate sub categories instead of being mixed together. This should help you find what you need much quicker.

2.  We've made the ordering process easier - We were told that the the order process was confusing so we made it easier to choose your bobblehead or figurine, add your accessories and special requests.

If you think those changes are great, wait until you hear this!

Happy Birthday Bobblehead
Birthday Bobbleheads
3. The $79.99 bobblehead returns!  That's right, these bobbleheads have a different look and feel then our other selections. We now work with several different artists giving you more variety and options to fit your budget.

4. Standard shipping is now only $9.95!

5. We now have a new accessory available. You can now add a voice recorder to your order! You get 10 to 15 seconds or re-recordable voice music and more. This is perfect for distant relatives or loved ones! Take an already unique gift and add your very own personal message.

The Avengers Are Finally Here With Collectible Bobblehead Dolls

THE AVENGERS MOVIE

One of the most anticipated films of the year is finally here and with it comes a vast assortment of characters form the Marvel Universe. If your a fan, then your in for a real treat.

Here are a few of the characters from the film:

How's that for the ultimate superhero movie? And if that doesn't impress you, check out this interesting fact:

The Avengers tracked ahead of 2008's The Dark Knight ($158.4 million) and 2012's The Hunger Games ($152.5 million), which held the record for the second and third best opening weekends behind 2011's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 ($169.2 million). On MovieTickets.com, North American ticket presales during the week before release exceeded those of Captain America: The First Avenger, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and Thor combined during the same period, by over 150 percent. As of May 8, 2012, The Avengers has earned $244,014,897 in North America and $500,100,000 in other countries for a worldwide total of 744,114,897 marking the highest grossing film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Its worldwide opening of $392.5 million is the third largest of all time.

That's impressive! So here's a quick breakdown of the story.  Nick Fury (played once again by the note-perfect Samuel L. Jackson), leader of the peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Fury, along with former Russian spy Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), recruits a super team to combat Thor's ever-deceptive brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) after he brainwashes ace archer Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) while stealing a cosmic cube from an underground base. Thus the heroes must learn to work together alongside outlaw scientist Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), who can track down the artifact's gamma signals when he's not hulking out into a giant green monster. It all comes down to a superhero battle royale as they try to save the world from destruction.

With most big box office movies comes collectible merchandise. And of course, I could not end this post without mentioning the new pre-orders for The Avengers movie bobbleheads released by non other than the good folks at Neca. That's right, their all here. My Top 5 Favorite Childhood Toys

Last week I talked about what inspired me to start a bobble head business. Now I'd like to show you my top favorite toys that I had as a child. So let's take a walk down memory lane together, shall we?

1. Hot Wheels Diecast Cars

Do you remember these? I was absolutely crazy about these cars! You name it, I had it. Camaros, Corvettes, Ferrari, and Ford trucks. These were a lot of fun to collect. Of course me and my brothers would beat them up pretty bad. We would crash them into each other and build ramps that had them launched in the air. I actually still have a few of these stored away somewhere. I believe they still produce them, but the build quality is nowhere near what the use to be. Now they make them out of plastic.

Quick Facts:

  • Manufactured by Mattel and introduced in 1967.
  • They were manufactured to be 1:64 and 1:43 scale.
  • Over 10,000 different models have been produced over the years
  • Their licensed by several car makers including General Motors, Ford Motor Company and Chrysler Motors to name a few.

 Did You Know?

*Mattel borrows the actual blueprint of the vehicle from the manufacturer.

*They license the blueprints over to Mattel and must be returned after their finished.

What was you favorite Hot Wheels Car?
Mine was the 1972 Corvette Stringray.

2. Happy Meal Toys

Remember when a McDonald's Happy Meal Toy was a real toy? Nowadays their lightweight and cheap with a bunch of plastic parts. Back in the day they really put some thought into what you would find in that Happy Meal box. I truly enjoyed these toys back in the early 90's. I loved when my parents would ask me if I wanted a Happy Meal for lunch. I would anticipate going to the restaurant, picking up that colorful box and smelling the food. Man, I loved those hamburgers! What was cooler than sitting down to your favorite lunch and knowing there was a prize waiting for you inside the box? It wasn't as often as I would of liked it to have been so I'd savor the moment. I guess my parents were concerned about my health. Anyway, some of the toys I remember receiving when I was a child (some of which I still possess to this day) are The Smurfs, Fraggile Rock, Animaniacs and Snow White to name a few. A few years ago, I was checking out a local flea market and came across an entire set of sealed Simpsons plush from the early 90's. Needless to say I picked them up, for nostalgic reasons. Come to think of it, where they made by McDonald's or Burger King?

Quick Facts:

  • The concept began in the mid-1970's by Yolanda Fernendez de Cofino running McDonald's stores in Guatemala with her husband. She created a menu called the "Menu Ronald."
  • The concept was brought over to Chicago and given to Bob Bernstein, CEO of a marketing agency. Bernstein changed the name of the menu to a Happy Meal and introduced the concept of adding a toy to appeal more to children which was introduced in 1979.
  • Most toys tie into a promotion for a movie or television show.

 Did You Know?

*In Canada, the promotion prior to the Happy Meal was called the "Treat of the Week," where a different toy was available free on request each week.

What was you favorite Happy Meal toy as a child?
One of my favorites was the Animaniacs line. I had the entire set but the pigeons were my favorite.

3. Power Rangers

Wow, when I was a kid I use to dream about being a Mighty Morphin Power Ranger! I use to look forward to the show every day after school. The whole concept of being a teenager with the ability to perform martial arts and possessing morphing powers at the same time was something that captivated me. My brothers and sisters each had their favorite and we had basically every character from the show, good guy and bad. We really enjoyed battling it out with our Power Rangers back in the day. Of course, this was the original series and they have released so many different versions of the show over the years. How many are there now anyway?

Quick Facts:

  • The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was a 1993 television series obtained from Japan.
  • The Japanese version debuted in 1975 as Dinosaur Task Force Zyuranger.
  • When popularity began to wane, Saban (producers) decided to start a franchise including action figures
  • The action figures where born in 1996 along with additional story lines and they turned out to be the best selling action figures of the 90's.

Did You Know?

There are over 15 different Power Rangers series that have spawned from the original over the years!

Who was you favorite Power Ranger?
I always wanted to be the leader of the group, the Red Ranger.

4. Hess Trucks

Yes I use to collect the new Hess truck that's released every year. I know they still release them, but haven't checked them out in years. I wonder if the build quality is the same as it was? There was nothing like running down to the Christmas tree and finding a big brand new Hess truck. Not only did they have the working lights horn and backup alert sounds, but they usually came with a car.  These trucks were actually taken car of because I loved them so much. But, I lost interest and ended up selling them. Still, these trucks make for an excellent collection and I'm sure will increase in value if you hold on to them.

Quick Facts:

  • In 1964, the first highly detailed toy tanker, the "B Model Mack Tanker" was sold at Hess gas stations.
  • They were made to be exact replicas of vehicles in the Hess fleet until 1987 when the design was changed to include non-fleet vehicles.
  • They were all produced in very limited quantities.

 Did You Know?

The demand for Hess trucks continue to rise by collectors young and old. If you have them, hold on to them!

5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

How can I make a list of my favorite childhood toys without including the Ninja Turtles? Unheard of! You name it Leonardo, Donatello, April O' Neil I had them. I even had the Ninja Turtle van. The Turtles were my number one favorite cartoon when I was young. I even went beyond the action figures with t-shirts, a bedroom set, backpacks and they even released trading cards based on the series which I had a ton of. I owned the first wave of action figures that were released but the one's that really grabbed my attention were the talking figures. I believe that the shells would protrude a bit further out than the regular because that's where the speaker was located. Lot's of fun. Oh yeah, one more thing, I also had the Rock Em' Sock Em' Ninja Turtles. We really beat that toy up!

Quick Facts:

  • Ninja Turtles action figures have been produced by Playmates Toys since 1988.
  • The first TMNT license came in the form of a role playing game by Palladium followed by miniatures from Dark Horse
  • Created by Kevin Eastman & Peter Laird
  • They used money from a tax refund along with a loan from Eastman's Uncle to self-publish a single issue comic intended to parody four of the most popular comics in the 1980's.

Did You Know?

Producer Michael Bay plans on releasing a brand new Turtles movie entitled, "Ninja Turtles?" Hope it lives up to fans expectations.

Who was your favorite Turtle growing up?
I always thought Leonardo was the coolest because he was always calm and collected. Plus, my favorite color is blue!

It's been great taking this trip down memory lane. I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Of course there are many other awesome toys that I had a child, but these sto0od out from the rest. If you have a favorite childhood toys you'd like to mention, please share with us!

Just a quick suggestion: If your a collector trying to hunt down some of these rare childhood favorites then Ebay is a great place to find action figures,  rare lunchboxes and more! I guarantee you words will be "Hey, I remember that!"

Still a Kid at Heart

You know, every time someone asks me what it is I do for a living it's always the same response. "Custom bobble heads dolls? I didn't know those existed! That's an awesome idea!" People always ask me what made me decide to go into the bobble head business. Well that's an excellent question. I actually have two reasons. One, because I wanted to do something that makes people laugh and to operate a business that isn't all business. It is possible to run a business and enjoy it at the same time. And two, the main reason I chose this business is because I guess you could say I'm a bit of a child at heart.

When I was a kid, I absolutely loved watching and drawing cartoons. I tell you, nothing made me happier than to get up on Saturday mornings and watching those now classic cartoons. I don't know about you, but I think that the cartoons they have on nowadays don't compare to the ones of the 80's and early 90's. In fact, some of my favorites (don't laugh, but from time to time I still watch them just to reminisce and yes I have a few on DVD) was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Garfield, Spider-man and His Amazing Friends and Sonic The Hedgehog. I use to love drawing these cartoons and I was actually good at it. And what child would be complete without his massive collection of action figures and comic books. Everything from G.I. Joe, Transformers, Star Wars and X-men. You name it, I had it. In fact, I still have some of my childhood toys stashed away somewhere.

My love for cartoons and superheroes had been carried over the years except now of course, there's no running to my box of toys to play action figures after school. There's no digging in my crayon box anxious to draw Garfield on a sheet of fresh white construction paper. Instead of drawing cartoons, now I draw comic book super heroes. Instead of collecting action figures, there's my comic book statuettes which by the way I highly recommend for true comic book superhero fans (check out Sideshow Collectibles and Bowen Designs). I have so many of these things now that I'm on the verge of being kicked out of the house by my wife. As far as comic books are concerned, I now buy the graphic novels which collect an entire series.

I knew that one day I wanted to open my own comic book shop and I had created a business plan for it. It would be called "T&J Exclusives" (the T standing for Tony and the J my wife Jessica) We had everything planned out and ready to bring the business into fruition. That was until one day, an idea popped up. You see dolls, statues and action figures with celebrity faces on the internet and store shelves, but what if we could create actual dolls of our friends and loved ones? I wrote another business plan, got a hold of the best sculptors in the business and created Face It Figures. The reason why I enjoy these custom bobble heads is because their so unique. Their not only great for laughs, but are a one of a kind and collectible. There are people who collect these bobble heads and display them in curio cabinets. You would say "Who would collect a bobblehead of themselves?" but many people buy them to remember things that they did throughout the years such as a fishing trip graduation.

I still plan to open my comic book store in the future and I'll always enjoy cartoons and superheros, but now I'm all about my bobbleheads. Sure running a business has it's challenges and it's not always a walk through the park, but I'm providing something that makes people happy and it's something that allows me not only to be creative, but also to be a bit of a kid at the same time. Life can be very stressful and disappointing at times and I believe that we all should hold on to piece of our inner child. I truly hope that our customers enjoy these bobble heads as much as we do.
